Job Summary
Under general supervision, position works to organize and coordinate the operation of a school cafeteria. Position works to lead and participate in the preparation and cooking of school meals. Position works to maintain a variety of records and prepare reports. Position works to provide an efficient operation of a school cafeteria including supervising cafeteria personnel.
Essential Duties
- Coordinates and supervises the operation of a school cafeteria.
- Provides leadership and training in areas of cashiering, food production, inventory control, customer service and compliance with government regulations.
- Trains, supervises and evaluates school nutrition employees.
- Plans and prepares employee work schedules.
- Prepares food and supply orders for school cafeteria.
- Receives, inspects, and confirms the quantity and quality of food and supplies delivered.
- Reconcile and complete monthly physical inventory of food and supplies.
- Directs the preparation of school meals to ensure they comply with state and federal regulations and the requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
- Leads and follows established HACCP procedures.
- Leads and follows established safety guidelines and procedures to ensure job safety.
- Maintains records and files and prepare clear and concise reports.
- Assists with menu planning and product evaluation.
- Maintains the food service facility and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
- Collects monies and prepares cash receipts and bank deposits daily.
- Follows all established state and federal regulations and complies with all established school nutrition and school board policies.
- Communicates positively with school nutrition employees, school staff, students, parents and visitors.
- Maintains a positive image of the school nutrition program.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of School Nutrition or other appropriate administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
Must possess a high school diploma. Must possess strong management and organizational skills. Must possess the ability to effectively organize, schedule and lead food service personnel. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and food safety and sanitation. Three years experience in food nutrition and management preferred. Must maintain a strong work attendance record. Must be willing to achieve certification through the School Nutrition Association. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school nutrition staff, other school staff, parents and the community.
