Job Summary
Provide the safest and most efficient transportation for students so as to have a positive impact on the educational programs of the county.
Essential Duties
- Abides by all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to pupil transportation.
- Assists students on and off the bus, may require carrying students.
- Operates special equipment necessary for physically impaired students to ride the school bus.
- Attends to the individual need of the students on the school bus.
- Participates in all meetings and training activities required by the Transportation Department to meet the needs of the students assigned to their bus.
- Strives to maintain a calm and relaxed atmosphere at all times on the school bus to ensure the safety of the students onboard.
- Maintains an open and cordial relationship with students, parents, coworkers and administrators.
- Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Supervisor of Transportation and/or Superintendent may assign.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
Meet all DOT, DOE, Commonwealth of Virginia and Bedford County requirements.
